Students’ Union Rep Elections
Whether you want to organise parties, help out in our SU crazy campaigns or change academic policy for the better we have the job for you!
We’re running our elections on the 29th and 30th of September! With Fresher’s week the time for nominations you couldn’t ask for a better time to get to know your class. All you need is to nominate yourself or get someone to nominate you by sending in an email to myself or filling out a nomination sheet that you can get in the SU building.
So what kind of rep do you want to be? There’s very few of us that enjoy reading through academic policy and at the same time organising a class party. So this year we’ve split the role in two!
Students’ Union Rep ElectionsAcademic Reps
The classic nerd in you will enjoy this role! You sit on staff student committees, college committees with your college rep, you have a vote in SU council representing your class and you can go for the position of college rep or deputy college rep!
You’re the main link between the student body and me so that the students’ voice is heard on any education problems! Another aspect of this role is education campaigns. The printers aren’t working again? Not enough study space? Make a difference, stand up and be counted! You’ll get trained during a full day and night on the how to of Su council, exam stress guidance, study skills, improving your public speaking, etc !
The academic rep training day will take place on the 5th October at an off campus venue where the Students’ Union will provide all transport and each rep will be provided with meals throughout the day along with a night out. Any reps who have timetable clashes with college work whether it be classes, tutorials, or labs needs to get on to me in advance to organise with your departments rescheduling or exemptions.
Entertainments Reps
Love organising crazy parties and events? If so this is the job for you! With Sam our entertainments officer organising amazing events all year long you can have your say in all of these and help make this year even more fun than before! You sit on the Entertainments committee and the ‘Raise and Give’ working group so your input is essential! You’ll get trained in by Sam and Ian our deputy president during a full day and night where club and pub managers will talk to you about the best deals out there!
Also event managers around cork will talk to you about different types of bonding trips you can set up for your class!
