Hi! I'm Michelle McCarthy, I'm a second year medical student from Waterford. I've been in college in UCC for the past four years however as I completed a degree programme before and I'm extremely enthusiastic about all the college has to offer both academic and social. I was elected college rep for the College of Medicine and Health last March, and for the coming year I will be endeavouring to represent the interests of all students of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing and Midwifery, Clinical Therapies, Pharmacy and Public Health and Health Promotion.

I will be doing this in a number of ways:

  • 1. Organising and Chairing a monthly college clinic where I can hear feedback from your class reps
  • 2. Sitting on the Student Union Executive where I will represent the interests of Medicine and Health Science Students
  • 3. Sitting on Academic Council, which is a university-wide body chaired by the president of the University to represent the views and needs of Med & Health students
  • 4. College Council- where I will be representing the students on a body consisting of many senior academics in the College of Medicine and Health
  • 5. Since so many of us are based primarily in Brookfield and the Cavanagh Pharmacy Building I want to liaise with other officers to ensure students in these buildings are included in all college activities especially those run and facilitated by your Student's Union.
