This depends entirely on what kind of accommodation you choose. The accommodation available and their prices are:

Digs Lodging:

If you want meals provided or you go home at weekends, you might consider digs or lodging with a family. Click here for more information.

This is the most economical accommodation available, includes all bills and you only pay for when you are there.

This is where you live in with a family and other first year student. You will get your breakfast, evening meal and light supper. This year the charge is €130 for a single room for five days. Prices include all bills. You only pay for the term time. There is no payment for Christmas or Easter.

Flat/Apartment:

For one to eight people depending on size. Most student apartments are purpose built, some are en-suite and all have broadband internet access. Prices vary in accordance with location, facilities and distance from UCC. This year prices ranges from €75 to €150 based on a 39week fixed term contract. Rent is payable in advance in two instalments, in September and December. The rent includes all charges, e.g. internet, TV, refuse. Heat and light are charged separately.

House Sharing:

Renting a house from a private landlord, sharing with other students. Both prices and standards vary considerably. Except for grade A houses, a maximum of €96 has been set for the 2009/10 academic year, but most rooms are considerably below this price. The going rate for single rooms ranges from €70-€80. Bills are extra. A standard term is from September to the end of May. If you wish for a shorter term, this must be stated when you are booking the accommodation and agreed with by the landlord. If you leave before the end of agreed term, or do not give adequate notice if in a periodic tenancy, you may loose your deposit.
